Yogacharya Mother Hamilton often spoke of her great love and gratitude for her guru, Paramhansa Yogananda. This book, entirely in her own words, is compiled from her many recorded talks and writings from over 35 years.
Mother Hamilton met her great master, Paramhansa Yogananda, in 1925 and this event changed the course of her life. She was only 20 years old at the time and remained a loyal disciple from early adulthood through marriage and family life. Due to difficult circumstances, she was only able to see her master in person on twelve separate occasions: “Yet I was never separated from him in spirit because when he took hold of my hand that first evening I became one with God within him for all the years to come and perhaps for many, many lifetimes.”
Yogananda formed Self-Realization Fellowship, an organization to carry out his mission in America and the West, with headquarters in Los Angeles. In 1947, Mother was asked by Yogananda to start a SRF center in Seattle and appointed as center leader. Later he ordained her as a minister and bestowed on her the spiritual title, Yogacharya.
Mother describes how deeply his divine personage and spiritual teachings affected her and how important the guru-disciple relationship is for a soul who embarks on the quest for God-realization. Mother came to know of the true power of God and how a person can realize the state of being both human and divine. This is what she witnessed during her life with him in Spirit.
